I had wanted to catch the moon. I’d seen it on the way home and it was beautiful–big and bright in the sky. Unfortunately, by the time I got home the cold front had started moving in. As I stood out back waiting for the moon to reappear, I could feel the temperature dropping. It quickly became clear that the moon wasn’t going to be visible again so, rather than pack up, I set the camera to do some long exposures just to see what I’d get. These are completely un-retouched.

If you know me, I’m sure I’ve told you this before: I love digital for exactly this reason. Had I had only a film camera, I wouldn’t have taken a shot. Exposure readings would have been a complete guess (instead of simply looking at the LCD for each exposure), and it would have been too long between the taking and the evaluation (i.e., development) to make heads or tales of what worked and why.

Like the color or lack thereof. Adds an ominous feel to both. kind of halloweeny.
