I caught Jimbo Mathus at the Cradle last night. Wow! As a genre, I’m not real keen on electric blues, but this guy is fantastic. If I remember my local band lore correctly, he was part of Squirrel Nut Zippers when they blew up (in a good way). I first caught his solo act at the Cave in Chapel Hill when it was the Jam Pain Society. Now it looks like he’s playing with Buddy Guy. Bottom line, he’s a bad-ass player and the show was great.
